Important message

The Erasmus Mundus Master in Adapted Physical Activity – EMMAPA is entering a new 5-year cycle as a two-year Master program, starting September 2010.

The program will be organized within the following Universities, that are forming the EMMAPA Master Consortium: The Catholic University of Leuven (KUL), The University of Limerick (UL), the Palacky University Olomouc (UP); Norwegian School of Sport Science (NSSS), the University of Virginia (UV – US); the University of Queensland (UQ - Australia) and Stellenbosch University (US – South Africa). The Master course has a duration of two years, consists in total of 120 ECTS and the official language of instruction is English. The competencies acquired in EMMAPA offer the students a unique opportunity to combine advanced courses in movement, exercise science and applied behavior analysis to design adapted physical activity programs for individuals with disabilities.

The first academic year takes place at KUL, in the second year the students will follow a mandatory mobility period in one of the European consortium universities choosing between 4 mobility models. Average number of 22 third-country students and 18 European students are expected every year. There are approximately 50 full time professors who will teach in the program

Scholarships: There will be 10 scholarships of 48 000 Euro for category A students (non-European students who didn’t study or reside in Europe for more than 12 months in the last 5 years). There will be 2 scholarships for students coming from Turkey , Serbia , Macedonia , Croatia , Bosnia and Herzegovina , and Montenegro .

There will be 8 scholarships of 23 000 euro for category B students – students coming from European countries.

 

Applications will be open on December 1, 2009 on the website of KULeuven http://www.kuleuven.be/application/

Application deadline:

    • January 10, 2010 for non-EEA citizens
    • June 1, 2010 for EEA citizens.
    • Please note that the number of applications by third country students must be limited to three Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses maximum. In the eventual case that a student applies to more than three EM Courses he/she will be excluded from the selection for an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.
  • Application fee
    • All non-EHEA applicants will have to pay an application fee of 50 EUR to process their file. This fee needs to be paid for each application made. This fee will be reimbursed upon registration at K.U.Leuven. Please submit proof of payment with your application. Payment can only be made via bank transfer. No other form of payment will be accepted.

 

Application instructions


(Please note that applications received by us without these documents will not be processed):

1. A passport photograph.

2. A certified copy of your diplomas and transcripts of academic records.

All documents should be certified as true and original by either the educational institution that issued them (in a sealed institution envelope) or by the local Belgian diplomatic office. Photocopies and faxes are not accepted.
Please add a document explaining the grading system of your country (i.e. comparing the grades to numeric score). If you are still preparing for an examination at the time of application, you are requested to forward – as soon as the results are available – a certificate attesting to the results.

3. Translation of your diploma and official transcripts

If your documents are not in English or Dutch, please arrange for these documents to be translated by a registered translator. These documents must be also certified by the educational institution that issued them or by a Belgian diplomatic office.

4. English proficiency test

All non-native English applicants must submit a certificate proving their proficiency in English: for example, a TOEFL certificate sent by ETS, an IELTS certificate sent by The British Council. Only original score cards sent directly by either ETS or The British Council are accepted. We require an IELTS minimum overall band score of 6,5 or alternatively an minimum TOEFL score of 580 (paper based test), 237 (computer based test) or 92 (internet based test).
